Croatian Etiquette and Tips
Some things to keep in mind
  • When meeting a Croatian for the first time, be sure to shake their hand 
  • Croatians, especially women, are known to dress up even if they're going to the grocery store.
  • If you know some Croatian, it may help with the "tourist tax".
  • For the most part, at grocery stores, the cashier will scan your items and tell you the price, not much conversation.
  • The beach is more often going to be a pebble or rock beach. If you have sensitive feet, consider investing in water shoes.
  • EAT LOTS OF PIZZA & ICE CREAM
  • Important numbers to have: Dial 112 for general emergencies, 192 for police, and 194 for an ambulance

  • Hvala (Thank you)
  • Čaj (Tea)
  • Kava (coffee)
  • Pivo (Beer)
  • Bijelo vino, crno vino (White wine, red wine)
  • Odlično (amazing)
